Introduction

For this Field Trip individual Assignment, I have chosen one of the largest Cultural Event in Singapore, Korea Festival 2008 (also referred as “Celebrate Korea 2008: Dynamic & Sparkling”). The Korea Festival is held annually at different countries in the world. Previously, it was held in London, United Kingdom. This year the Korean Wave came into Singapore, Vivo City Amphitheatre (L3) where the opening ceremony was held.

The Korea Festival’s events spread from 1st November 2008 to 18th November 2008, allowing Korean Fanatics indulge in Traditional Korean Food, Korean-Pop Concert, Classical Music, firm, and other diverse aspects of Korean Culture. Having the Korean-Pop Night Concert as the main HIGHTLIGHT of the whole Festival is the most happening of all because it has been a long wait for fans for this ONCE-IN-A-BLUE MOON opportunity to meet their favourite Korean-Pop Stars.

Korea Festival is part of both Singapore and Korea Governments’ effort to help the people getting to know and understand one another better; along with the Festival theme of “Communication & Sharing”.
I arrived at the Korea Festival with one of my HTM mates. Looking at the surroundings, I realised that this Korea Festival has given some of the Korean Residents in Singapore an opportunity to wear their Traditional Korean Dress, Han-Bok.

During the Opening Ceremony’s performances, there was a long table placed on the front, seated with VIPs. (It was Grand!) There were many audiences on the seats of the Amphitheatre too, enjoying the performances – Drum Performances. Along the way, I also saw many LRM mates who went for the Korea Festival 2008 too. (We are definitely enjoying ourselves!)

For this Individual Blog Reflection, I will bring you through my experience from the Korea Festival 2008. Some of the report have parts of my thoughts and suggestions. I hope at the end of the day, you will be able to feel my excitement throughout and how i managed to apply some of my knowledge of Festival and Events Management to the Festival. (:

For the research part, I have utilized the Official Websites, News & Media, Brochures and pre-event instructions given event-in-charge (Senior Instructor of Singapore Indoor Stadium- K-Pop Night Concert).

P.S. I was at the Korean-Pop Night as a Staff
